Nestled in Lafayette Village of North Raleigh, this southern kitchen showcases down south cooking and hospitality at its finest. About two months ago  Amanda recruited coworkers and friends to help find the perfect dining solution for her and her boyfriends 2 year anniversary. Since her boyfriend is a North Carolina born man, she ideally wanted somewhere that would serve up their best offering of  fried chicken. A friend suggested  Driftwood as a romantic yet casual option. The first trip was a success and now we have been back a handful of times!

A big attraction for this location is actually the location itself. Lafayette Village is a European-style village architecturally designed to represent places such as France or Italy. The center offers locally owned gourmet restaurants and upscale shopping. Along with patio dining and live music events,  Lafayette offers secure underground parking, office suites, boutiques, and  artist exhibits. A wonderful place to spend a night out with your significant other.

Driftwood’s interior has timeless character  and features beautiful pieces of rustic farmhouse decor.  Their menu is designed so the guests can playfully piece their meals together and share with one another for a true communal dining experience, just like sitting down for supper at your grandmother’s house.

The menu offers a variety of our favorite southern ingredients including Louisiana Crawfish & Crab Dip, Crispy Shrimp & Grits,  Angus Beef and Port Meatloaf (left), and a personal favorite of ours the Ancho & Coffee Braised Short-ribs (seriously, it was love at first bite).

Lobstor Roll

If you are not into the hefty meat offerings you can find lighter alternatives such as their Goat Cheese Ravioli, BBQ’d Atlantic Salmon, and the Lobster Roll (right). Whatever you decide I can assure you that their scratch made menu offers only the freshest locally sourced ingredients.

Additionally, Driftwood offers a pretty kick ass brunch, or so I’ve heard, and will be visiting very soon.  Open 10:00am to 2:00pm on Sunday, enjoy their brunch buffet featuring staples such as eggs, bacon, sausage, french toast, biscuits & sausage gravy, fresh fruit, Greek yogurt, macaroni & cheese, salads, desserts and some more specialty items like smoked meats and/or fried chicken. Top it off with their (on a budget) cocktails; $2 mimosas and $5 bloody marys.
