1. Give Up On The Unhealthy Lifestyle

“Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” – Francis of Assisi

Everyone longs to be happy and healthy. After all, what’s the point in working hard toward a long and healthy life if you can’t enjoy it? While focusing on exercise and diet is great for your body, balanced living means protecting your mental and emotional health, too.

Start by taking small steps in your every day routine:

1. Exercise – get moving more often, take walk breaks instead of snack breaks
2. Nutritious Diet – incorporate vitamins, fruits, veggies, and unprocessed foods into your diet
3. Quality Sleep – rest your body when it’s telling you to, you need time to heal and replenish
4. Find your perfect balance – balanced living means having a positive outlook, focusing on good habits, and lowering stress.

2. Give Up On Playing It Small

“Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people will not feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do.” – Marianne Williamson

If you never try and take great opportunities or allow your dreams to become realities, you will never unleash your true potential. If I never applied for that job, asked for that date, or made that move I wouldn’t be where I am today.

Voice your ideas, make your move,  do not be afraid to fail- and certainly do not be afraid to succeed.

3. Give Up Making Excuses

“It’s not about the cards you’re dealt, but how you play the hand.”
– Randy Pausch,

We are all guilty of making excuses for ourselves at one point or another. Whether it’s calling in fake sick to work, cancelling a date, or bailing on girls night out – we all do it. Back in college I was full of excuses just trying to keep my head above water and some how graduate. Somewhere along the way my mindset completely changed. I stopped making excuses for myself, lived honestly, set goals for myself and went out to achieve them.

By being honest with yourself you will discover your true likes and dislikes. Your more likely to be happy and commit to plans or goals if your doing something you love. Follow what makes you happy and don’t put yourself in unwanted situations! It’s as simple as that- crazy right?!

4. Give Up Your Perfectionism

“Perfectionism is the voice of the oppressor.”- Anne Lamott

This is a big one for the ladies. Stop trying to be perfect and start trying to be the best version of YOURSELF. This is coming from me, a blogger, and every blogger out there who tries to make our posts, our pictures, our make up, our outfits – perfect. We are in fact, the opposite – it is all our imperfections, insecurities, and unique characteristics are the things that actually resonate with you – right? We are imperfect people just trying to do the best we possibly can.

Cookie cutter is boring, and frankly- BASIC. Stop worrying that something is not enough, or someone doesn’t like you, or you must look a certain way. This world puts WAY too much pressure on us as it is, don’t let yourself stand in the way of your own happiness.

5. Give Up On Saying YES To Things That Don’t Support Your Goals

“What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.”-  Zig Ziglar

Successful people know that in order to accomplish their goals, they will have to say NO to certain tasks, activities, and demands from their friends, family, and colleagues. Say no to drinking if you want to be healthy, say no to that job if it’s not the right fit. You may end up sacrificing a lot of little things, but in the end it will all be worth it.

6. Give Up Your Need To Be Liked

“You can be the juiciest, ripest peach in the world, and there’s still going to be people who hate peaches.” — Dita Von Teese

Loving this quote from Dita Von Teese. I think we all feel the need to be liked and accepted. Maybe it comes with age when you start to care less about what others think and begin to see people for who they really are.

Not everyone is going to like you, it is completely natural, and there’s no need to justify yourself. All you need to do is remain authentic, improve, and provide value &  meaning to your everyday life.

7. Give Up Wasting Time & Wondering What Could Be

“Time is more value than money. You can get more money, but you cannot get more time.” – Jim Rohn

I know I sound like a broken record at this point but you can’t beat the fact that we only have one life to live. It is ours to decide what to do with it – so why be mediocre? That’s why you owe it to yourself to see who you can become, and how far you can go.

If you’ve got a goal or a dream you want to achieve start figuring out what the first steps are to become closer to completing that goal. Who else is holding you back? Why not start right now? Make yourself a plan for your goals and then go get ’em.
