Most of my Summer weekends have been spent away from home, driving back and forth to visit family and friends across North Carolina. Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love to travel and make the most of my time off from work. This weekend for Labor Day Ben & I are packing up and heading to Asheville for the first time! Crazy…I know, this trip is long over due.

It’s easy to get carried away while packing for such a short trip. With day and nighttime activities, exploring, dining, and lounging, the amount of outfits to plan could be endless. All I have to do is pack a few key transitional pieces that can seamlessly take me from day-to-night and can be integrated into a variety of situations.  Below I’ve included what I typically pack for those quick weekend trips.

Ultra comfy pair of travel pants.

I’m digging these wide leg flare pants that are made for any kind of look. Perfect for the girl who wants to stay comfy wherever she goes- from the quick morning coffee runs to those lazy family nights in. Add a cute mini crop top some strapped black heels and some accessories and you can even turn this into a cute dinner date outfit!

Classic Jean Bottoms

I love to pack a pair of classic (dark wash) jeans that can be worn with sneakers and a T-shirt during the day, or with a nice top and heels for a more polished affair. Like these Free People flare jeans cast in a deep black wash for wear-with-everything
versatility. Right I’m really into the flare cut jeans. I’m about 5′ 10′ with skinny legs, I like the way the wider cut balances out my body.  I’m also working on bringing the bell bottom  look back so you can find me rocking a sweet pair or five of those this year.

Baseball T’s

Baseball tshirts are my go to. I want one in every singe color, quarter sleeve and long sleeve. ATM has the best styles and this classic cut can be worn on its own, or layered to create the perfect look. You can find plenty of generic baseball t’s in Target or TJMAX, but I’d rather buy mine from a boutique and pay the extra price for quality and comfort.

Leather Jacket

A classic leather black jacket is all I ever need. This is a great piece to sling over your shoulders during the day, or throw it on over an evening look to give your travel looks some edgy versatility. The one pictured here is from ASOS around $140, but I snagged my Micheal Kors leather jacket from TJMAX for $80 when it war originally $160!

A light flannel

A light flannel (or cardigan) for the cool spring and fall nights. Flannels are my favorite for the fall, and heck even spring time since I’m always cold. A light flannel or cardigan is nice to have to throw on with any outfit for a comfy and laid back look. Pair it with your black leather jacket or throw it around your waist to style it into a more polished outfit! Go check out this flannel shirt at Love Culture for only $20.

Shoes vary depending on the season, but I typically pack 1 -2 pairs of my favorite booties. I literally own one pair of flip flops and 100 booties.  I love the way a little heel can lengthen the legs and turn any outfit into seemingly organized and trendy look. You can get these  Burke Faux Leather Bootie’s on VICI for only $38. I highly recommend you check out RackRoom’s Bogo Deals and sign up for their rewards card. They should have a bootie deal coming soon within the next month or so!

A Simple Blouse

I’m more of a jeans and cute top girl rather than wearing dresses. It’s more comfortable for me and I have more versatility when it comes to layering clothes or styling tops with different accesories or hair styles. I love this simple off white white button down blouse and it’s boho vibes. Perfect to dress up your daytime outfit or during a night out!

Make Up Remover

I’ve recently encountered the worst acne of my life. I can’t stand waking up with oily skin and yesterdays leftover makeup. Bringing make up remover with me has become a part of my daily skin care routine and it is crucial to have especially on trips! My new and personal favorite is the Philosophy- Just Release me Oil-Free Make Up Remover. Formulated with natural aloe, and chamomile and cucumber extracts, it’s cool and soothing and perfect for removing make up – even waterproof!

Flat Iron

I never pack a hair dryer, a curler, and a flat iron. Most of the places I travel have a hair dryer, but I typically shower at night and let my hair air dry to reduce heat damage. My one-and-only is my Revlon flat iron – all I need for straight or wavy hair. You don’t need to spend top dollar on a fancy shmancy flat iron, you can get mine here for only $24!

Workout Outfit

Sometimes I will bring my workout clothes and gym bag with me if I know I’m going to a place that is familiar or has a planet fitness I can sneak off to in the morning. I bring one outfit – one bra, one legging, a simple top, and one pair of shoes in a separate bag. Even if I don’t end up working out that weekend I use my leggings and comfy top as an outfit to sleep or relax in. If you do this you’ll always be prepared for spontaneous trips that require comfort and comfortable walking shoes!
